Anthony Peddle
Age: 33
I started lifting in 1987 when I was sixteen years old and I have competed
in the 48 kg class for the past eighteen years.
I have been to 5 Paralympics achieving Bronze medals in
Barcelona 1992 (weightlifting) and Atlanta 1996 and I won a gold medal in Sydney
2000. I am the current British, World and European record holder (168
kilograms).
Unfortunately whilst training for the Commonwealth Games
in 2002 I tore a tendon in my right shoulder, which required surgery
My immediate aspirations are
- To stay fit and to win a gold at the European
Championships in November this year.
- To win Gold at the World Championships and
Commonwealth Games next year..
- Would like to think I am good enough to compete in
Beijing (6th games).
- To improve on my world record
Aside from sport I work as a Sports Development Officer for Northampton
Borough Council.
